I think somewhere along the way the people of the Westboro Baptist Church in Kansas have missed the point. We were charged by Jesus to spread the Gospel and I can honestly say that I don't know of any biblical precedent that requires us as Christians to attack people that have gone through a tragedy. We need to help people find salvation, not take a sad day and make it worse.
To keep this in context, I am talking about the congregation's goal of protesting the funerals of the murdered Amish girls in Pennsylvania. Notice the word MURDERED. It does not matter who is affected, death is a deeply sad event but an untimely death that involves the perpetrator intending to molest you and then kill you is tragic. To think that a Baptist church would dare protest under this situation is reprehensible. It is no wonder that we as Christians have difficulty showing people what we are about when you have people claiming to be Christians that are engaging in such dispicable behavior. Rather than dwell on this, which I am likely to do, I am going to make a suggestion to the people of the Westboro Baptist Church and anyone that agrees with them. This category exists for me to point out the actions of people that have done things that sadden me. It seems that all kinds of topics can be disheartening but for some reason the people at Westboro Baptist Church seem to be at the top of my list. Again.
No matter what we read, what is said, what is done we must remain faithful to Jesus and we must contain to grow with His Word. If we don't we will be just like the protestors. The thing to remember is that any post in this category is meant to illuminate a problem and hopefully show that no matter the issue, we as Christians can survive and flourish. Theme Information
